User Review: Does the PureSleep Stop-Snoring Mouthpiece Really Work?

does the puresleep stop-snoring mouthpiece really work

You may have seen my Youtube videos on the ‘Snore Force’ channel where I explain how I didn’t realize my snoring was a real problem until I was 35 years old. That’s because 35 is how old I was when I got married – and oh man, it was a HUGE problem! (the snoring, not the marriage)

My wife and I both work, and neither of us were getting enough sleep. See, I used to sleep fine when I slept alone – or at least I thought I did.

She told me I snored and that it was bothersome, but I didn’t really think too much of it. After a while, it became unbearable. At times, she became absolutely furious in the middle of the night and would elbow me in my side to wake up. She’d complain that she couldn’t sleep because of my snoring, only to have me fall back asleep and start snoring again.

It was truly horrible, because I was always tired at work from being woken by her. Equally, she was never getting the sleep she really needed. It was affecting the quality of our lives. Days at work were a drag, I often felt like a zombie, and constantly wished I could just take a nap.

We knew there was something that had to be done after seeing a commercial for the Zquiet stop snoring mouthpiece. What seemed like just another sales pitch at the time was about to change my life. She decided to research it on a whim, and to make a long story short, we ordered one, and that was the end of the snoring!

Our lives were dramatically changed after just the first couple weeks. Yes, really…. Since then, we’ve decided to order every stop snoring product we can get our hands on. I test each one for at least a night (some longer than others) – and then sleep with it live on camera so I can see the results and share them with you guys.

Anyway, this is what leads us to the PureSleep stop-snoring mouthpiece.

How Does the Pure Sleep Stop-Snoring Mouthpiece Work?

The PureSleep stop-snoring device is a self-molded mouthpiece that is FDA-approved. It works by holding your lower jaw slightly forward of its normal position during sleep, which is supposed to reduce snoring.

The PureSleep product requires a “boil-and-bite” process. This means you’ll literally put it into boiling water to heat the material to make it more pliable. After it cools just enough so it doesn’t burn your mouth, you bite down and it conforms to the shape of your mouth (it comes complete with a manual and easy to follow instructions). It is also adjustable, allowing you to pull your lower jaw out past your upper jaw in different lengths.

I really had high hopes for this mouthpiece, mainly because it was pretty comfortable after I boiled and fitted it.

However….

PureSleep didn’t work. At first, it was working – it prevented me from snoring. Unfortunately, my upper jaw slid over the top of the mouthpiece and I started snoring after about 5 ½ hours.. You can see the video below.

The video speaks for itself, and I’m not going to beat around the bush. As I said, it prevented me from snoring but only until it came loose in my mouth. In my opinion, this poses a danger – I’m lucky I didn’t choke. And to think it’s an FDA-approved device? What a joke… Stop snoring? Yes. Guaranteed to wake up the next morning? No.

The Problem With the PureSleep Mouthpiece

You’re probably thinking I didn’t use it properly – maybe I didn’t follow the instructions or didn’t boil it long enough to create a good fit. I assure you, that’s not the case here. I’m good with this sort of thing because I’m a very technical guy. The problem is the design. A better design would prevent the PureSleep mouthpiece from dis-lodging in the middle of my sleep and posing a serious choking hazard.

Needless to say, there was no reason to risk testing this one for another night. I even felt compelled to file a complaint with the company. But after doing a bit of research, I know I’m not the first to experience this same problem with the PureSleep mouthpiece.

The best of all the products that I’ve tried is still my Zquiet mouthpiece. It worked right out of the box and was also more comfortable. Furthermore, the patented airway design allows me to breathe easier by preventing the my jaws from fully closing.

The Final Verdict About PureSleep

I’m willing to test anything once, but PureSleep is definitely not something I’d try again. Additionally, I can’t safely recommend it. When it comes to stop-snoring mouthpieces, there’s only one champion and so far it’s Zquiet.

You can try the Zquiet free for 30 full nights here…

My quest to find the best product out there will continue, but the PureSleep stop-snoring mouthpiece has definitely been crossed off the list.
